About

Wilson Hines

Wilson Hines is a full-time college student majoring in Foreign Languages with the intent on attending Theological Seminary.  Wilson’s life work is the trucking industry, where he works with his father in the family business, which he is hoping to be able to move past in the next 18 to 24 months.

Wilson recently moved from the PC world to the MacOsphere when his Gateway PC had a mega-failure.  He switched from PC to Mac and hasn’t looked back!

The whole experience has been so moving he has decided that he would journal his transition from PC to Mac with an audio podcast.  This may last five episodes, or it may last 105 episodes; you can probably expect the five or a few more episodes.  The point of this podcast is not to add to the noise of Mac podcast out in the “ether” of iTunes and the Internet, but rather to tell a story, almost in a journal format.

For the gear heads out there, I have plenty of experience producing podcast using Adobe Audition 1.5 and 3.0.  With the attempt of moving away from PC and much of the software that has been written for the PC, he has produced this podcast in GarageBand using a Blue Snowball Microphone with a “spider mount.”   While GB isn’t nearly as fully featured as Audition, it does have some benefits.  One thing that hasn’t been figured out yet, as of writing this, is how to fade in and out of music, so please be patient with regarding that aspect.  In Audition that was very easy and fluid.  ”I am just trying my best to live my life the way Steve Jobs would want me too!”, he says laughing.  ”I am truly trying to use all the tools that comes with OSX, like the iLife suite of tools, and if I hit a brick wall with a particular app, I’ll tackle the problem.  As of right now, I’m impressed with how much of the software is evidently mature enough not to have to go out and buy a bunch of software.”
