I first heard about this from Leo Laporte’s Google Buzz and I must say I am floored by this type of activity, by anyone. This is the type of thing that concern me very much about FaceBook and it’s almost Soviet style actions against it’s users.  If you haven’t already seen the original news article by the radio station, you can find it here.

You won’t, however, find me crying things like “We live in America”, or “Free Speech!”.  Quite the contrary, I am the first to concede the claims of the Constitution of the United States only applies to it’s government when affecting its citizens.  The Constitution of the United States doesn’t prohibit a social network from inhibiting free speech.  When you sign up for a service like Twitter or FaceBook, you accept a “Terms of Service” with a click; that TOS acceptance gives them the right to limit your speech.

While we are not constitutionally protected from actions like this, we should be “common sense” protected – and evidently #FAILBOOK doesn’t care about common sense, or common decency, for that matter.

Wilson also talks utilities that are worth taking a look, and could easily be considered as NECESSARY tools for the switch from PC to Mac!

Deleting your FaceBook Account

…and finally, Ed Bott of ZDNet/Cnet rips Adobe tail on security in Flash.  He’s usually a real even tempered guy, so if Ed is getting heated up, something must be in the oven!

If your wondering why I am so anit-FaceBook it’s because, quite frankly, I spent two days early in the month apologizing for FBook sending invites from my account to people in my friends list regarding Burger King $100 gift cards.  That is where it all started, but it goes deeper than this.

FaceBook is a privacy nightmare.  If you knew 1/20th of the things you were sharing and all with who you are sharing your privacy with, you may decide to take a look at deleting your account, as well.

The process is a bit ambiguous and they don’t truly make it clear that unless you know where to look, all you really can do is “suspend” your account.   There is a way to truly delete your account and you can find more information at this Wiki.   I would recommend it, as much as my recommendation can carry weight.

If professional security and privacy advocates are deleting their accounts en mass, it maybe time to look for an alternative to FaceBook, which has more registered users than the population of the United States.

Just sift through this Google Search on “FaceBook privacy.”

The war is raging harder than ever before between Apple and Adobe.  The battle is whether or not Flash will rule the world, or whether the world will be able to just load a web page and get video.

You almost want to start this off by saying something like, “So this iPad walks into a bar…”, but that wasn’t quite like that all went down.

So there’s this little older lady with an iPad.  The only experience in her life with computing is a PC and a Kindle.  She flat out hates her new iPad and is literally a half a mile from taking the thing back to the Apple Store – when Wilson saves the day!

This is an eye opening experience and good experience.
